May 3, 2008

There was an antique market at the nearby town of Aviano. Each Sunday a different town has one, but this is the first one I’ve been to. I didn’t buy anything, but it was fun to look at the European version of antiques. Aviano is located just north of where we live, at the foot of the mountains that we can see from our bedroom window. (See earlier posting.) Aviano has an American Air Force base, so there were a lot of American accents to be heard in the crowd. From Aviano we decided to drive to Piancavallo, which is located at the top of the mountain. Here is the view from on the way up.

Piancavallo is a ski resort and there was still a bit of now to be found on the slopes.

Here is a map of the area that gives you an idea of mountain locations and heights. Make note that the measurements are in meters and not feet. The peak of Cimon del Cavallo would actually be 7,385 feet high.

We still were not at the peak.

We literally went from summer to winter toay!
